JOB DESCRIPTION: Residential Support Worker (Female)
(Female-only requirement is justified under the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, where the role involves providing personal care to female residents.)
Role Purpose
To provide high-quality, compassionate and person-centred care to female residents living in a Supported Living/Residential environment. The role ensures safety, dignity, well-being and meaningful daily living for young adults with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver respectful, polite and professional personal care and daily living support.
- Build trusting, therapeutic relationships using empathy, patience and consistency.
- Promote independence, choice and positive risk-taking.
- Support with medication, health appointments, behavioural support plans and safeguarding expectations.
- Implement structured routines, activities and community engagement.
- Maintain accurate records (daily logs, incident forms, medication sheets, charts).
- Work collaboratively with families, social workers, behaviour teams and management.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment in line with infection control and Health & Safety.
- Contribute to reviews, team meetings, development plans and quality improvements.
- Drive residents to activities, appointments or community events.
Essential Requirements
- Female (Genuine Occupational Requirement).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a care setting – ideally residential, supported living or complex needs services.
- NVQ Level 2/3 Health & Social Care (minimum).
- Full UK driving licence and confident driving service users.
- Strong communication skills and ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Compassionate, patient, emotionally intelligent and respectful at all times.
- Ability to follow care plans, behaviour plans and safeguarding procedures.
- Able to work shifts, evenings, weekends and sleep-ins as required.
Desirable
- Experience supporting individuals with autism, epilepsy, PBS, and non-verbal communication.
- Additional training: medication, manual handling, first aid, PROACT-SCIPr/MAPA or equivalent.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Residential Respite Support Worker Role
To deliver compassionate, consistent and high-quality care to young people accessing short-break/respite services. The role focuses on providing a safe, fun, structured and supportive environment where individuals can relax, develop skills and enjoy meaningful respite stays.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide person-centred support with personal care, routines, emotional regulation and communication.
- Ensure the respite home is warm, safe, well-run and welcoming at all times.
- Support service users to participate in planned activities, outings and social opportunities.
- Manage transitions into and out of respite stays with professionalism and sensitivity.
- Maintain clear documentation including daily logs, incident reports and handovers.
- Uphold safeguarding, behaviour support plans and health protocols.
- Communicate effectively with families, social workers and professionals before, during and after stays.
- Contribute to household tasks and maintain high cleanliness standards.
- Drive young people to activities, appointments or drop-off/pick-up points.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a care environment, ideally respite or residential settings.
- NVQ Level 2/3 Health & Social Care (minimum).
- Full UK driving licence.
- Naturally compassionate, polite, patient and respectful.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Confidently managing challenging behaviour using the training and guidance provided.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and sleep-ins.
Desirable
- Experience with autism, learning disabilities, epilepsy or complex needs.
- Previous work in respite/short-breaks services.
- Additional specialist training (PBS, epilepsy, manual handling, first aid).
- Ability to drive a mini-bus

Pay: £87.50-£375.00 per week
