Full job description

Residential Support Worker
Location: Hinckley, Leicestershire
Salary: £31,396.80 – £33,164.80 per year
Rota: 1 on / 2 off – shifts run 8am to 8:30am (with a sleep-in in between)

If you believe real change comes from care that’s consistent, thoughtful and built on trust, this is a team you’ll want to be part of.

You’ll join a small therapeutic children’s home where every shift is focused on helping young people feel safe, valued and understood. The team work with intent and compassion, creating an environment where children can find stability and start to move forward with confidence. It’s a workplace built on shared purpose, respect and a good sense of humour.

The role
You’ll support young people aged up to 17 with emotional and social needs, building positive relationships and creating a sense of belonging day to day. It’s about showing up, doing the small things well and helping children feel seen, heard and supported.

You’ll:

  • Support daily routines including school, family contact and community activities
  • Build relationships based on empathy, trust and clear boundaries
  • Encourage independence and self-belief through positive reinforcement
  • Keep records accurate, meaningful and up to date
  • Contribute to care plans and reviews in partnership with your team
  • Work closely with colleagues to maintain consistent, high-quality practice

This isn’t a tick-box kind of role; it’s hands-on, relationship-focused work where teamwork and communication really matter.

What you’ll need

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) or at least halfway through
  • Experience supporting children or young people with emotional or behavioural needs
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding and professional accountability
  • Full UK driving licence and confidence driving across all road types
  • Enhanced DBS (clean and current or willing to obtain)

Why this job
You’ll be joining a home with strong leadership, reflective supervision and genuine progression routes. Good work is recognised, effort is noticed, and development is taken seriously. You’ll have access to regular training, meaningful feedback and opportunities to step into Senior or Deputy roles when you’re ready.

It’s a place where people stay because they’re supported properly; not stretched thin.

What’s on offer

  • Structured pay progression with twice-yearly reviews (March & October)
  • Bonuses for appraisal, probation and Ofsted outcomes
  • Paid, face-to-face training and continuous professional development
  • £2.50 hourly uplift for overtime after 160 hours per month
  • Extra 8 hours’ leave for your birthday
  • Paid Christmas party and refer-a-friend incentive
  • Company pension and Employee Assistance Programme

If you’re someone who takes pride in doing the job properly, with care, consistency and heart, this could be your next step.
