About the Role

We’re on the lookout for a dynamic and driven Assistant General Manager / Venue Manager to join our team at one of the most iconic venues in London – nestled in the heart of Leadenhall Market. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on supporting the General Manager in all areas of operations, people management, and brand growth. You’ll play a crucial part in maintaining high standards, leading the team, and ensuring an exceptional experience for guests and staff alike.

You’ll also support our marketing team by contributing to social media and engagement strategies — helping to strengthen our connection with our audience.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Licensing

  • Implement operational efficiencies in line with GM strategy
  • Act as a key holder, ensuring venue security, maintenance, and safety
  • Ensure strict adherence to all licensing policies and procedures
  • Maintain high customer environment standards (cleanliness, music, heating, lighting)
  • Liaise with the kitchen team to ensure food quality and consistency
  • Support and enforce venue safety protocols and risk assessments
  • Be the point of contact for authorities in the GM’s absence
  • Handle customer complaints professionally and in line with procedure
  • Organise and oversee the venue

Staffing & Team Development

  • Forecast staffing needs and ensure proper rota planning
  • Assist in tracking staff costs and revenue alongside the booking/accounts coordinator
  • Lead recruitment, staff inductions, and ongoing development
  • Maintain high team morale and performance through strong leadership
  • Ensure all policies in the employee handbook are followed
  • Address any internal staff conflicts with professionalism and care

Stock & EPOS Management

  • Manage all stock ordering and weekly/monthly stock counts
  • Oversee the use of Marketman and EPOS systems across the team
  • Ensure EPOS hardware is fully operational and suited to service demand
  • Monitor key performance indicators — including wastage, discounts, and margins
  • Approve significant customer and staff discounts
  • Conduct regular inventory audits to prevent stock loss and inaccuracies

Marketing & Social Media Support

  • Work with the central marketing team on social media content and scheduling
  • Assist with customer engagement via digital platforms
  • Ensure tone, branding, and responsiveness remain consistent and on-brand

Required Qualifications

  • Personal Licence
  • Food Safety Level 2
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Venue Fire Safety Training

Who You Are

  • You’re proactive, positive, and ready to lead from the floor
  • You’ve got previous experience in a high-volume bar, pub, or restaurant in a supervisory or AGM role
  • You thrive under pressure, are highly organised, and are confident managing both people and processes
  • You’re confident and happy to get involved in marketing and customer engagement work

What You’ll Get

  • Competitive salary with opportunities for progression
  • A hands-on role in a standout, central London venue
  • Development and mentoring from experienced GMs and Ops
  • Staff discounts, perks, and team socials
  • A chance to grow your career within an independant dynamic hospitality group
