Engineering Sales Manager

Telford | Full Time | Bonus | Company Car

VA Technology is a world-leading supplier of bespoke manufacturing systems, supporting some of the largest aerospace, medical and automotive organisations across the globe.

As our business continues to grow, we are looking for an ambitious and technically minded Engineering Sales Manager to join our international sales team based in Telford.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who combines technical understanding with strong commercial acumen and enjoys building lasting relationships with customers around the world. The role involves regular UK and international travel, working closely with customers on-site to understand their manufacturing challenges, develop tailored solutions and progress opportunities through what can often be a complex, long-term sales cycle.

We're looking for someone who enjoys developing customer relationships, identifying opportunities and maintaining momentum from initial discussions through to project award.

What you'll be doing

  • Building and developing strong relationships with customers across the UK and internationally through regular site visits and face-to-face meetings
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for customers throughout the sales process
  • Understanding customer manufacturing requirements and developing technical solutions, system concepts and project specifications to meet their needs
  • Identifying, nurturing and progressing opportunities through often lengthy and complex sales cycles
  • Preparing technical and commercial proposals for bespoke engineering solutions and tender and bid submissions for major engineering projects
  • Coordinating sales and promotional activities across international markets
  • Carrying out capacity planning and analysis of automation systems
  • Collaborating with colleagues across our UK, US and China operations to deliver customer-focused solutions
  • Maintaining an up-to-date understanding of company products, market developments and competitor activity

What we're looking for

  • Experience in technical sales, engineering sales or a customer-facing engineering role
  • A natural relationship builder who enjoys working closely with customers and developing long-term partnerships
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to identify and develop business opportunities
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong engineering knowledge and technical problem-solving ability
  • Self-motivated, resilient and able to maintain focus throughout long sales cycles
  • Comfortable travelling regularly within the UK and internationally
  • Confident communicating with senior managers, decision makers and technical stakeholders
  • A proactive mindset with a genuine desire to learn, develop and grow within the business
