Full job description

What You’ll Be Doing

 Pricing and estimating works for local authority (LA) and private jobs

 Preparing and working with Schedules of Rates (SORs)

 Setting up job budgets before works start (labour, materials, subs)

 Tracking actual costs vs budget on LA jobs and live projects

 Preparing valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts

 Managing and pricing variations in line with LA procedures

 Ensuring works are delivered within agreed framework rates and margins

 Assisting with cashflow forecasts and cost reporting

 Supporting compliance with LA commercial requirements (paperwork, audit trails)

 Helping improve commercial systems and cost control as the business grows

What We’re Looking For

 QS or commercial experience in construction

 Experience or understanding of local authority / framework works

 Comfortable working with tight margins and fixed rates

 Strong cost tracking and budgeting skills

 Practical, hands-on approach — not desk-only

 Organised, detail-focused, and commercially aware

 Happy working in a small team where everyone mucks in

Nice to Have (Not Essential)

 Previous LA / framework QS experience

 Knowledge of SOR pricing structures

 Small, local business with a steady pipeline of LA work

 Opportunity to shape how costs and budgets are managed

 Direct input into commercial decisions and profitability

 Long-term role with progression as the business develops

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £32,827.11-£45,000.00 per year
