Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Lightning Protection Test Engineer to join our on-site team. You will independently conduct inspections, testing, and repairs to lightning protection and earthing systems across various structures, ensuring compliance with British Standards and delivering high‑quality reporting and certification. Full Training can be given if required

Specific Role Targets

  • Inspection and Testing of Lightning Protection Systems

Undertake visual inspections, physical testing, and earth-resistance assessments of lightning protection systems per BS EN 62305 series, BS 6651, and BS 7671

  • Conduct Earth Resistance and System Testing

Conduct tests such as fall-of-potential and clamp meter measurements

  • Generate Clear, Detailed Reports

Using standard digital tools (e.g. mobile PDAs), conforming to audit and client expectations

  • Identify and document non‑conformances or remediation needs
  • Client Communication & Advice

Advise clients on compliance issues and follow‑up works, supporting quotations and proposals, detailing repairs required on site

  • Equipment Maintenance and Calibration

Adhere to RAMS, HSE regulations, and safe working-at-height practices

Engage with clients and project teams professionally at site level

Requirements

  • At least 1–2 years experience in lightning protection testing, inspection, installation, or repair
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 as a Lightning Conductor Engineer
  • CSCS or ECS card
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Competency with test instruments
  • Comfortable and trained to work at height

Working Conditions

  • Field-based role with significant travel; occasional overnight stays
  • Work outdoors and at height across diverse structure types (e.g. high-rise, chimneys, spires)
  • Use of PPE, harnesses, MEWPs, scaffolding, and safe-access equipment
