Self-Employed Solar PV Roofer – With Labourer/Mate
Location: Hertfordshire, North & West London, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire
Job Type: Self-Employed / Subcontract Basis
Average Job Rate: £600–£1200 per roof installation (larger projects £1,300+)

About the Role

We are a rapidly growing renewable energy company delivering high-quality solar PV installations. We are now seeking experienced self-employed roofers, ideally working with a mate/labourer, to join our subcontract team for consistent solar PV projects.

You will handle the roof-side installation of solar panels, including mounting systems (GSE, K2, Van der Valk), panel fitting, and weatherproofing. We currently provide 1–2 jobs per week, which is expected to increase within the next 1–2 months as we scale quickly.

This role suits skilled roofers with experience in solar PV mounting and working at heights, looking for consistent subcontract work and high earning potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install solar PV mounting systems (GSE, K2, Van der Valk, or similar).
  • Safely fit solar panels to tiled, slate, or metal roofs.
  • Ensure all penetrations are properly weatherproofed and sealed.
  • Work safely at heights and ensure compliance with HSE guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the electrical team for smooth project completion.
  • Maintain a neat, professional, and efficient installation process.

Requirements (Must Have)

  • Proven experience as a roofer installing solar PV systems.
  • Own van, full roofing tools, and valid insurances (min £2M public liability).
  • Ability to handle tiled, slate, and metal roofs confidently.
  • Experience with mounting systems such as K2, GSE, or Van der Valk.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe, professional installations.
  • Ability to work with or provide your own labourer/mate.
