We have an incredible opportunity for a Social Media Executive to join our team.

About the Role

Turn everyday conversations into meaningful connections. As our Social Media Executive – Community, you’ll help more people discover, engage with and feel connected to Help for Heroes. From responding to our online community to joining relevant conversations, you’ll bring our distinctive voice to life and help grow our reach and engagement across social media.

  • Lead day-to-day community management across our social channels, building relationships through relevant conversations and timely, thoughtful responses.
  • Own our standard responses and adapt them to each channel and conversation, keeping our tone of voice consistent and meeting agreed response standards.
  • Lead our organic scheduling approach and day-to-day social calendar, working closely with the Digital Assistant and in line with our social media strategy.
  • Proactively manage our platforms to increase reach and engagement, identifying emerging trends and opportunities to join conversations that matter to our audiences.
  • Manage the social media boosting budget and monitor performance against agreed channel targets, making adjustments to improve results.
  • Oversee social media reporting delivered by our Digital Assistant, using insights to understand our audiences and improve future activity.

About You

Are you someone who knows how to turn a comment into a conversation and a follower into an engaged member of a community? Do you combine social media expertise with excellent communication skills, attention to detail and an empathetic, patient approach? If you’re curious about what makes audiences connect, comfortable using data and able to stay calm when priorities change, this could be the role for you.

Do you bring strong social media expertise, including good experience of TikTok, a community engagement platform and Google Analytics? Have you used AI applications for content creation and to streamline manual tasks? We’re looking for someone who can manage projects and competing deadlines, work on their own initiative and collaborate effectively with colleagues. Copywriting and storytelling skills, confidence sharing ideas with senior colleagues, and awareness of data protection, image rights and content accuracy would also be welcome.

About the Team

Our social media team helps people connect with the charity through conversations that build awareness, engagement and lasting relationships. Reporting to the Social Media Manager and working closely with the Digital Assistant, you’ll help turn our social strategy into meaningful day-to-day activity. It’s an opportunity to share ideas, learn from audience insights and work collaboratively towards a common purpose.

In return we can offer you:

  • Belonging to a team who make a difference to our community and value equality, diversity and inclusion.
  • 29 days’ annual leave plus 8 bank holidays, regardless of service — plus your birthday off to celebrate!
  • Opportunity to buy and sell up to 5 days annual leave per year.
  • Added to our free health scheme from day one, including discounts on dental, opticians, massages, and more - with the option to upgrade.
  • 3 volunteer days per year to support the Help for Heroes community.
  • A generous salary sacrifice pension scheme with an 8% employer contribution and a minimum 3% employee contribution, plus life insurance up to 4× salary as an active member.

Closing date: 19th November 2026
Interview Process: Interview stages, format, arrangements and dates to be confirmed.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive a high number of strong applications.

We are committed to equity, diversity and inclusion and welcome applications from all backgrounds.

It has already supported more than 26,500 people and won’t stop until every wounded veteran gets the support they deserve.
