We are recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming specialist secondary school and sixth form this September. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting students with a range of additional needs while working alongside experienced SEN professionals.
The School
This specialist SEN secondary school and sixth form provides a nurturing and inclusive learning environment for students aged 11–19 with a variety of complex needs, including autism, communication difficulties, sensory needs, physical disabilities, and medical challenges. The school is committed to ensuring every student receives the personalised support they need to achieve their academic, social, and personal goals.
Your Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support students on a one-to-one and small-group basis.
- Help implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and personalised learning strategies.
- Adapt learning resources and classroom activities to meet individual needs.
- Encourage communication, independence, and emotional wellbeing.
- Support students in developing confidence, resilience, and positive learning behaviours.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and support staff to ensure the best outcomes for learners.
- Contribute to a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment.
Why Join This School?
- A welcoming and supportive team environment.
- Opportunities to work across both secondary and sixth form settings.
- Excellent training and professional development opportunities.
- Valuable experience for careers in teaching, educational psychology, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, healthcare, or social care.
- The opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young people preparing for adulthood.

- Experience that will strengthen future applications for teacher training and postgraduate study.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor's degree (all subjects considered).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach.
- A genuine interest in supporting young people with additional needs.
- A willingness to learn and develop professionally.
- Previous SEN experience is desirable but not essential.
