Full job description

We have an amazing opportunity for residential support workers to join our caring and support team at Norton Court House, our specialist longer-term service for children and young people with a diagnosed Learning Disability and who display challenging behaviour as a result. We offer intensive levels of support and care to help the young people we care for develop social and life skills.

We encourage our young people to attend school or college during their stay with us, wherever possible, and to join us on fun day trips out to theme parks, the seaside or wherever their interests lie!

You will have an opportunity to learn whilst you work with Active Care Group. After probation you will be working towards Level 4 Diploma in Residential child care.

What you'll be working:

  • Days and Nights
  • Every other weekend
  • Rota shifts
  • Working towards Level 4 Diploma in Residential child care


What you'll be doing:

  • Build relationships with children and young people
  • Establish methods of communication with children and young people, reducing barriers when necessary
  • Assist children and young people with mealtimes where necessary
  • Support with activities of daily living and personal care when needed
  • Communicate any issues to the on shift team leader or management
  • Accurately report and/or record work activities

What you'll have:

  • A genuine interest in providing the best person centre care possible for our young people
  • NVQ 3 or equivalent in Childcare
  • Should have lived in the UK for 3 years
  • The ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Minimum experience of 9 months in the child care
  • Experience working within the Child care sector / Autism/ LD
