Warranty Technical Adviser - job post

RG Industrial Group
Doncaster
£30,000 - £33,000 a year - Full-time

Location

Doncaster

Full job description

We are looking for a Warranty Technical Adviser to join our growing automotive parts remanufacturing business. This is a hands-on, problem-solving role suited to someone with a background in light motor vehicle repairs and/or diagnostic technician.

You will act as the key link between customers, production, and technical teams, assessing warranty claims, diagnosing issues, and ensuring fair, consistent outcomes. Formal engineering qualifications are not required — practical experience, mechanical awareness, or a strong automotive interest is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Warranty Assessment & Technical Support

  • Review and assess warranty claims for returned components
  • Diagnose faults using inspection reports, images, and technical data
  • Identify root causes (installation issues, wear, contamination, misuse, or component failure)
  • Decide on warranty outcomes in line with company policies
  • Site visits collecting samples and further liaising.

Customer & Internal Communication

  • Communicate technical findings clearly to customers in a professional, non-technical way
  • Liaise with production, quality, and warehouse teams to gather information
  • Support customer service teams with technical advice when needed

Process & Documentation

  • Record warranty decisions accurately on internal systems
  • Maintain clear documentation for audit and quality control purposes
  • Spot repeat failure trends and escalate recurring issues
  • Contribute to improving warranty processes and technical guidelines

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Good practical understanding of mechanical components
  • Ability to logically fault-find and analyse problems
  • Strong attention to detail and written communication skills
  • Confident using computer systems and internal databases
  • Calm, fair, and consistent decision-making

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Automotive background (workshop service manager, diagnostic technician)
  • Experience with engines, turbochargers, or related components
  • Mechanical, engineering, or hands-on technical experience
  • Strong personal interest in cars, mechanics, or automotive projects

We are not looking for someone with purely academic engineering knowledge — practical understanding and common sense matter more. What We Offer

  • Full training on products, warranty processes, and systems
  • A stable, long-term role in a growing automotive business
  • Clear structure and support from experienced management
  • Opportunity to develop technical and operational skills
  • Competitive salary based on experience

Who This Role Suits

  • Someone who enjoys problem-solving and fault-finding
  • A mechanically minded individual looking to move off the tools
  • Automotive enthusiasts wanting a technical office-based role
  • People who like structure, process, and making fair decisions

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £30,000.00-£33,000.00 per year
