About the Role

We are seeking a Machine Operator to join our established production team at our Thurmaston site. This is a hands-on role within a manufacturing environment, involving the operation of specialist equipment and supporting wider engineering activities.

The successful candidate will be reliable, technically minded, and quality-focused, with a strong commitment to safety and continuous improvement. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop technical skills within a growing engineering-led business.

Key Responsibilities

* Operate a carbide press and sintering furnace in line with process specifications and safety procedures

* Carry out surface grinding operations to required tolerances

* Perform component etching and finishing processes

* Monitor machine performance and identify faults or process deviations

* Carry out routine quality checks and maintain accurate production records

* Use MS Word and Excel for basic reporting, data entry, and documentation

* Support other engineering and production activities as required

* Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment

* Actively contribute to process improvement and efficiency initiatives

Skills & Experience

* Experience working in a manufacturing or engineering environment

* Good mechanical aptitude and attention to detail

* Ability to follow technical instructions and safety procedures

* Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel

* Strong work ethic, reliability, and a team-focused approach

* Experience operating presses, furnaces, or grinding equipment

* Knowledge of quality control processes

* Background in carbide, sintering, or precision engineering environments
