Progression and Performance Coach

National Grid is hiring a Progression and Performance Coach within our apprenticeships team reporting to the Apprenticeship Specialist.

As a Progression and Performance Coach you will review our learners progression whilst they are partaking in our apprenticeship schemes.

The role is a hybrid role with our office based in Eakring, we expect to see you at least twice a week on site and the rest working from home.

Please note, due to the location of our site, you must be able to drive with a full UK driving licence.

Within the role as you will be working with employees aged between 16 and 18, we will require a DBS check to be undertaken by the successful applicant at the Enhanced level.

What you'll do

  • The Progression and Performance Coach at National Grid is responsible for reviewing and supporting apprentices throughout their training journey.
  • This role involves planning and delivering progress reviews to ensure that learners are meeting performance standards, while also maintaining accurate documentation of their progress.
  • You will collaborate with various stakeholders, including the Development Programmes and HR Teams, to provide the necessary support for learners.
  • The successful candidate will play a crucial role in fostering the development of young learners, ensuring their educational needs are met, and promoting their overall welfare in accordance with National Grid policies.

What you'll need

  • Proficiency in organisational skills with proven ability to work in a fast paced, high-pressured environment.
  • Self-motivated and resilient, with excellent risk assessment, recording and time-management skills.
  • The Ability to set and Monitor SMART targets, with the confidence to challenge underperforming learners.
  • Knowledge of adolescence and emotional / developmental needs of young people.
  • Skills in empathy, understanding and listening. Ability to work as part of a team and to take a flexible, professional approach.
  • Experience of working with students or young people.
  • A knowledge of the OFSTED Education Inspection Framework is desirable.
  • A knowledge of the apprenticeship standards Framework is desirable.
  • Experience of reviewing, mentoring or coaching learners is desirable, ideally coming from an existing teaching or training background
  • Experience designing and delivering presentations and training to learners
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons in line with National Grid policies and the Keeping Children Safe in Education Government guidelines and experience in this area is desirable.

What you'll get

A competitive salary of £36,343 per annum – dependent on capability.

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
