Female* Domestic Abuse Support Worker

Workers should be “violence-free in their own lives.” Applicants are asked not to put themselves forward for selection if this is not the case.

Salary: £26,000- £27,300 per annum - The normal starting salary for this role is £26,000. A higher starting salary may be offered to candidates who have significant and demonstrable skills and experience required for this post.

Location: Test Valley

Hours: Staffed 9am-5.00pm Monday to Friday. Staff will provide an on-call out of hours service, on a rota basis including weekends.

Overview

To provide support, advice and assistance to women and their children who have experienced domestic violence and abuse.

The post-holder will work to empower and support women and children to make positive choices.

The post-holder will work as part of the safe accommodation team.

To participate in the delivery of the on-call out of hours service on a rota basis.

It is essential that the post holder has a driving licence and access to a car for work purposes.

Responsibilities

To provide high quality support and safety planning to women and children in crisis. This includes enabling women to access housing, welfare, benefits and legal advice. A key requirement is to provide personal welfare support and to ensure that women are provided with a safe, supportive and welcoming environment.

To provide practical and emotional support to survivors of domestic abuse and other forms of violence and abuse in accordance with FFFA values. This will include conducting key work sessions on a regular basis and keeping casework records up to date.

Qualifications

Good standard of general education

· Ability to work at NVQ (or equivalent) level III

· Further Education Qualification

· A recognised social work/housing/legal/ counselling or other relevant qualification
