Job details
Full job description
We are seeking to appoint a dedicated, enthusiastic, and inspirational Teacher of Business Studies to join our thriving team at Harris Clapham Sixth Form.
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious educator who is passionate about helping young people achieve their full potential. You will join a committed and supportive team of teachers and staff who work collaboratively to deliver outstanding outcomes for our vibrant and diverse student community.
This is a cross-site role, with teaching responsibilities across both Harris Clapham Sixth Form and Harris Academy Clapham, secondary site. The successful candidate will be comfortable working across both settings, contributing to a seamless educational experience for students.
If you are passionate about teaching and committed to excellence, we would love to hear from you.
About Us
We are not your average Sixth Form. Our job is to provide our students with an education that combines academic rigor with character education and the cultural capital our students need to thrive in their next steps. Sixth Form encompasses the step from childhood to adulthood and Harris Clapham Sixth Form enables the young people of South London to make that step successfully by offering an excellent academic and general vocational education.
Harris Clapham exists to serve the communities of South London, taking young people from being not much more than children at the end of Year 11 to being ready to face the adult world with the qualifications, skills and character needed to face those challenges successfully. The key role for staff in this, as well as teaching the academic and vocational subjects students will be examined in, is modelling and encouraging the Clapham Character as we develop young people with the Courage to take on new challenges and to do the right thing even when it’s the hard thing, the Commitment to persevere through hard times and to support friends and classmates loyally, and the Confidence to use their voices to create a community that is welcoming to all. Our teachers are subject experts with a passion to share their knowledge and skills of communication; our support staff are flexible and enthusiastic with specific expertise in their areas of responsibility; and our leaders are here to enable staff to do their jobs well and students to make that great step into adulthood.
Main Areas of Responsibility
The purpose of your role will be:
- To implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students and to support a designated curriculum area as appropriate.

- Staff development (including continuing professional development and engaging fully in the Performance Management Review process)
- Quality assurance (including contributing to the process of monitoring and evaluating the subject area)
- Management of information (including maintaining appropriate records and tracking student progress)
- Communications with students, parents and other stakeholders
- Pastoral system (including being a form tutor to a selected group of students)
- Teaching, ensuring a high quality learning experience for students

- Graduate in relevant subject and DfE recognised QTS
- Successful teaching experience at A level (including as a trainee)
- Understanding of theory/practice of effective teaching and learning.
- Understanding of the importance of having high expectations for all students, both of behaviour and academic achievement.

- Enthusiasm for and commitment to the achievement of the academy’s overall vision for success at all levels.
- Commitment to contributing to academy life as a whole and willingness to be involved with clubs and community projects.
