Join us as a AVP Vulnerability Manager- The Vulnerability Ops AVP is a Subject Matter Expert that plays a crucial role in performing critical analysis of vulnerability scan data and triage it as per risk to Barclays infrastructure overseeing standards, compliance, audits, reporting, and continuous improvement, Managing Zero-day vulnerabilities /Patch Tuesday.

The AVP role further works in collaboration with Threat intelligence and Cyber Operations teams to assess and contextualize exposure to latest threat trends and exploits and set appropriate remediation timescales.

The role holder is also responsible for ensuring that the risk factor and risk class assigned to a vulnerability and its associated remediation timescale (SLA) is communicated to relevant stakeholders and where necessary provide subject matter expertise to help remediation activity

To be successful as a AVP Vulnerability Manager and you should have experience with;

  • Threat and Vulnerability Assessment expertise - proficiency in Vulnerability Management toolsets (Tenable, WiZ, Nessus); understanding of CVSS scoring, CVE database along with real world exploitability; correlation of vulnerabilities with threat intelligence and business risk
  • Cyber Security Architecture and Infrastructure knowledge - Expertise in security architecture, design, implementation and operations including understanding on Cloud and SaaS platforms with ability to assess architectural gaps that may cause persistent vulnerabilities
  • Strategic Program Management - Proficiency in planning and execution of business objectives and compliance requirements with a strong stakeholder communication and influence.

Some other highly valued skills may include

  • Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategy.
  • Automation using technical expertise , process optimization and strategic vision
  • Hands on experience with Workflow management tools like Service Now and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines integrating security into DevSecOps
  • Understanding of one or more tools or technologies such as network topologies, end point protection , firewalls, MS Defender, Tanium, Tenable Security Center , Wiz.IO and Prisma Container Security.

Purpose of the role

To keep our customers, clients, and colleagues safe by identifying cyber-vulnerabilities across the Bank, using a risk-based approach to prioritise them, and to drive effective remediation activity.

Accountabilities

  • Allocation of the correct risk rating and remediation prioritisation to a vulnerability based on industry standards for assessment, available threat intelligence concerning exploitation, the reachability of the host (or asset) and the value of the service(s) running on the impacted host.
  • Development of vulnerability management operating model, policies and procedures to ensure consistency in vulnerability identification, remediation and reporting. Element owner of the Vulnerability Management Standard including Issues Management and Regulatory alignment.
  • Communication of vulnerabilities to relevant parties including senior stakeholders, vendors, external security partners and affect business units using reports and dashboards and provide recommendations for improvement in vulnerability management practices.
  • Collaboration with Threat intelligence and Cyber Operations teams to assess and contextualise exposure to latest threat trends and exploits and set appropriate remediation timescales.
  • Definition of requirements and acceptance criteria for the implementation and maintenance of automation tools to streamline vulnerability management processes within operating systems and applications.
  • Reporting of remediation status of Security Assurance Specialist team findings against Key Risk Indicators.
