Job Title: Driver

Department: Haulage

Reporting To: Transport Office

Pay: £16.00 per hour

Working Hours: Guaranteed 10 hours per shift covered.

Purpose: Rigid drivers play an essential role within Robinson Contract Services’ biosolids haulage operation, ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of bulk waste materials using rigid tippers. This position requires professionalism, reliability, and a strong focus on health and safety.

Core Responsibilities:

Driving & Vehicle Operation -

  • Operate Class 2 vehicles to transport biosolids safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure all vehicle checks, maintenance logs, and load securing procedures are completed in accordance with company and legal requirements.
  • Undertake driving duties involving 8-wheeler HIABs and rigids as required.
  • Comply with all transport legislation, including driver hours and working time regulations.
  • Load, secure, and tip materials in accordance with safety procedures.

Health, Safety & Compliance -

  • Adhere to all company health and safety policies and safe systems of work.
  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report any defects swiftly.
  • Maintain compliance with company, client, and legal standards.

Development & Representation -

  • Communicate effectively with the transport team, site staff, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Represent the company positively, ensuring a high standard of customer satisfaction.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development across company disciplines.

Person Specification:

Essential Criteria -

  • Full HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ driving experience.
  • Digital Tachograph and Driver Qualification (CPC) cards.
  • No more than six penalty points for minor endorsements.
  • Strong understanding of driver regulations and working time directive.
  • Excellent geographical knowledge and navigation skills.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Professional attitude with a strong customer focus.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Previous experience within waste transport or agriculture.
  • Previous experience operating tippers.
