At Babcock we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as a Driver at our RAF Halton site.

The role
As a Driver you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You'll have a key role working within a small but highly effective Transport Services team, where the highest standards will be expected. You'll be required to drive and operate a wide range of general and specialist vehicles, from Passenger Carrying Vehicles (PCV, which include cars, minibuses and coaches), to both rigid and articulated Large Goods Vehicles (LGV). You'll be responsible for making sure RAF personnel, equipment and vehicles get to the right place, at the right time!

Day-to-day you’ll be responsible for:
  • Driving and insuring vehicle is fit for purpose, in maintenance and cleanliness.
  • Updating all documentation before and after through standard checks and written documentation.
  • Reporting all defects in a time bound process
  • Carrying out all driving tasks as requested; this will include car driving for the senior stakeholders.

This role is full time and based onsite at RAF Halton, near Aylesbury. You'll work an average of 39 hours a week on a shift basis, however you'll need to be flexible as there may be changes to the roster from time to time, to meet customer needs.

Essential experience of the Driver
  • Experience of driving a variety of vehicles
  • Experience of working with similar type vehicles.
  • diplomacy is required within the role previous examples of similar experience essential.

Qualifications for the Driver:
  • Passenger Carrying Vehicles (PCV) DVLA Licence category D and Large Goods Vehicles (LGV) DVLA Licence Category C
  • Digital tachograph card, with sound knowledge of Driver's Hours Regulation in accordance with EU Directive 561/2006
  • Must have held a Cat B licence, maximum 3 points and must be over the age of 21 years
  • Driver qualification licence card (Driver CPC)

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain SC security clearance for this role.
