Full job description

About the Role

Adam Bernard Solicitors is excited to offer an opportunity for a Trainee Solicitor to join our dynamic Litigation Department. This role is perfect for a motivated individual with a keen interest in dispute resolution and litigation law. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience in litigation, whether through previous work, internships, or as part of legal studies, and will be eager to build on that experience.

We are committed to providing comprehensive training and support, offering both training contracts and qualifying work experience (QWE). This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a range of civil and commercial litigation matters, while being mentored by experienced solicitors to further develop your legal expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Casework & Legal Research: Assist with managing a caseload of civil and commercial litigation matters, including drafting legal documents, preparing pleadings, and conducting legal research under the supervision of senior solicitors.
  • Client Interaction: Communicate with clients to gather necessary information, provide case updates, and assist in managing expectations.
  • Court Preparation & Advocacy: Assist senior solicitors with preparing cases for court, including drafting witness statements, preparing bundles, and attending court hearings when required.
  • Drafting Documents: Draft legal documents such as statements of case, correspondence with clients, legal submissions, and settlement agreements.
  • Case Management: Maintain an organised system for case files, ensuring compliance with SRA and Lexcel requirements.
  • Litigation Strategy: Contribute to developing case strategies and assisting in negotiations, settlements, and alternative dispute resolution methods.
  • Professional Development: Receive one-on-one mentoring and feedback from senior litigators to develop your skills in both legal practice and client management.
  • Team Support: Provide support to colleagues and collaborate with other departments to ensure the smooth running of litigation matters.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Litigation Experience: At least 1 year of experience in litigation, either in a paralegal, assistant, or other support role. Experience in civil or commercial litigation is highly desirable.
  • Research & Analytical Skills: Strong legal research abilities with the capacity to analyse complex issues and provide sound legal opinions.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently with clients, colleagues, and external parties.
  • Organisation & Time Management: Ability to manage a busy caseload, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Interest in Litigation: A genuine interest in civil and commercial litigation, with a desire to pursue a career in this area of law.
  • Team Player: Collaborative, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to Detail: A high standard of attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of legal work.

What We Offer

  • Training & Mentorship: Full training and mentoring from senior litigation solicitors to support your development and career progression.
  • Training Contract or QWE: Opportunity to undertake a training contract or gain qualifying work experience (QWE), depending on your professional goals.
  • Supportive Environment: A positive, inclusive, and supportive team that values professional growth and work-life balance.
  • Competitive Salary & Benefits: A competitive salary, based on experience and qualifications, along with additional benefits.
  • Career Growth: Clear paths for career development and advancement within the firm.
