Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and motivated Hairdressing Tutor/Assessor to deliver high-quality training and assessment to hairdressing apprentices. This role is key to developing learners’ technical skills, professional behaviours, and confidence, supporting them to successfully achieve their apprenticeship and progress within the industry.
Working in partnership with curriculum leads and employers, you will plan and deliver engaging training, carry out workplace assessments, monitor progress, and provide tailored support to ensure every learner achieves their full potential. You will play an active role in creating a safe, inclusive, and inspiring learning environment that promotes both personal and professional development.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver inspiring and practical hairdressing training sessions that meet apprenticeship standards
- Plan, prepare, and review schemes of work and learning resources
- Conduct inductions, initial assessments, and regular progress reviews with learners and employers
- Assess learner work in line with awarding body and internal quality assurance requirements
- Monitor attendance, punctuality, behaviour, and progress, taking timely action where learners are at risk
- Provide high-quality information, advice, and guidance to support learner achievement and progression
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date learner records and complete all required documentation within set timescales
- Work collaboratively with employers, learning mentors, and other stakeholders to support learner success
- Promote and adhere to safeguarding, health & safety, equality & diversity, and all organisational policies
- Engage in continuous professional development and attend team meetings and standardisation activities
- Contribute to wider curriculum delivery and provide cross-team support where required
Experience and Skills
- Proven experience working within the education and skills sector
- Experience delivering to young people, ideally within alternative education settings
- Occupational competence in hairdressing to Level 3
- Qualified Assessor (A1 or equivalent) or working towards
- Strong planning, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of safeguarding, equality and diversity, and Ofsted requirements
- Experience monitoring learner progress against KPIs
- Ability to manage own performance and maintain CPD
- Confident team player with effective behaviour management skills
- Educated to a good standard in English, Maths, and ICT (minimum Level 2)
- Full driving licence and access to a vehicle
Job Type: Permanent
Pay: From £26,500.00 per year
