Why work with Walsingham Support..?
Walsingham Support is a national charity, not a business. We don't make money for shareholders everything we do is reinvested into supporting the people we care for and the staff who make it happen.
Since 1986, every Support Worker at Walsingham Support has played a vital role in enhancing the lives of people with learning disabilities, autism, and complex needs. Our world is built on doing good, being the best place to work, and always putting people first.
We believe in an accessible and fair recruitment process...
That's why you'll receive interview questions in advance, so you feel confident and ready to shine.
If you're ready to join as a Support Worker with Walsingham and want a role that's rewarding, varied, and truly meaningful apply today.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Our first step once you have applied, is a brief values evaluation. It highlights the qualities that matter in our work and helps both of us see whether the role is a good fit.
We are excited to recruit compassionate, reliable and person-centred Support Workers to join our team as a Bank support worker.
About the Service
You'll be supporting two ladies in a small, person-centred service. One individual is a wheelchair user, and both require support tailored to their individual needs.
This role is best suited to someone who is resilient, compassionate, and confident working independently.
A full UK manual driving licence is required for this bank support worker role.
The individual's within the service can present behaviours of concern, including challenging behaviour and racially abusive language, so you'll need to remain calm, professional, and focused on providing high-quality, person-centred support.
Experience with stoma care is beneficial, although full training will be provided.
There is a element of lone working, particularly at weekends, so you'll need to be confident making decisions and working independently while knowing support is available when needed.
Shift Patterns
Shift patterns include a mixture of:
Long days: 8:00am 9:00pm
Short days: 9:30am 2:30pm
Weekend lone working (Friday, Saturday & Sunday): 8:00am 9:00pm
Sleep-in shifts: 9:00pm 7:00am, followed by a handover from 7:00am 8:00am
Please note that shift patterns may vary from week to week to meet the needs of the service, including covering annual leave, sickness, and short-notice absences.
What We're Looking For
Female support worker
A calm, patient and reliable approach.
An understanding of the importance of routines and consistency.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
The ability to work independently and confidently during lone-working shifts.
A professional approach when working alongside involved family members.
Experience supporting people with autism is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
If you are passionate about delivering person-centred support and helping someone live the life they choose, we'd love to hear from you.
