Available Hours:
Permanent - Part-time - 20 hours per week
Salary £26,215 per annum (pro rata for part time)
For this role, we are currently considering candidates who live within approximately 15 miles of the Care Home. This ensures commutes are manageable and support your wellbeing and work-life balance. If you live outside this area but would still find the commute manageable, please get in touch - we are happy to review individual circumstances.
Are you passionate about helping people? Are you warm and compassionate? Are you looking to join a company who cares for their staff? If so, we want to hear from you!
Why join?
MHA is the UKs largest charity care provider; we are searching for empathetic and committed individuals with diverse skills and experience to uphold our mission of enabling older people to live later life well. Discover a career that combines passion and purpose. Be part of an organisation that celebrates diversity and stands at the forefront of care and compassion. Whatever your role with MHA, it is more than just a job.
In addition to a highly competitive salary, we offer a lot more:
- 28 days holiday (including bank holidays) and an option to buy annual leave.
- Life assurance.
- A discount scheme which includes savings with retail stores and online purchases.
- Access to a number of nationally recognised training courses and qualifications.
- Genuine career progression and development opportunities.
- Employee assistance programme including free counselling and legal advice.
- Access to chaplaincy and pastoral support.
- Access to wellbeing resources.
- Recommend a friend scheme.
- Family friendly policies.
- Long service awards.
- DBS check.
- Healthcare scheme at competitive rates.
About the role
At MHA our Chaplains are the focus for the spiritual life of the Home and Scheme, ensuring that the spiritual needs of residents, staff and families are addressed, including visits to hospitals, attending staff meetings and residents/relatives meetings whilst ensuring that relationships are developed and maintained between MHA and the local churches and other faith communities.
Every day will be different, and you will have the opportunity to use your people skills to make a real difference!
About the home/scheme
Lauriston care home in St Leonards On Sea
Lauriston offers colleagues a friendly and inclusive place to work, set in a scenic location close to the coast. The home has a welcoming team culture where colleagues support one another and work with shared commitment to person-centred care.
Colleagues value the calm and positive environment, which enables them to build meaningful relationships with residents and contribute to their wellbeing. MHA’s charitable ethos fosters kindness, teamwork and ongoing development.
For job seekers wanting a role rooted in purpose, compassion and collaboration, Lauriston provides a rewarding place to grow.

About you
- Would you like to make a positive contribution to benefit older people
- Spiritual wellbeing – rather than religious affiliation or belief – as a universal need is a cornerstone of MHA's positive approach to ageing and we aim to provide the highest quality care and support for older people of all faiths and beliefs.
We are looking for a person to be responsible for the spiritual, religious and pastoral life of the home/scheme and who will build good working relationships with local faith communities. - A significant proportion of our residents participate in the regular Christian worship that is part of the life of all our homes and schemes, so alongside an inclusive approach to spirituality, we need a Chaplain who is able to lead Christian worship. We are therefore looking for a person who is in good standing with their Christian community (a lay person or an ordained minister)..
- An empathetic understanding of spiritual aspects of ageing and dementia, demonstrated through experience of providing pastoral care and, ideally, leading services, is essential.
In accordance with the Equality Act 2010: Schedule 9, Part 1, there is an Occupational Requirement for the post holder to be a practising Christian.
