Early Years / Primary Practitioner (Urdu): Children’s Language & Culture Club

LingoRoots CIC is seeking a confident, friendly and reliable Early Years or Primary practitioner to lead a small, play-based Urdu Language & Culture Club for children at the Midlands Arts Centre (MAC), Birmingham.

This role is ideal for someone experienced in working with young children who is warm, approachable and energetic, and who is comfortable planning and leading sessions independently using songs, stories, games and creative activities to support language learning.

Role details

  • Day: Saturdays (term time)
  • Time: 1:00pm - 4:00pm
  • Location: Midlands Arts Centre (MAC), Birmingham
  • Start: January
  • Pay: £40-£50 per session (depending on skills and experience)

Key responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, play-based Urdu language and culture sessions
  • Lead group activities including songs, stories, games and creative learning
  • Create a warm, welcoming and fun environment where children feel confident to participate
  • Manage the session space and support positive behaviour and routines
  • Work alongside a Youth Ambassador to support children
  • Complete simple attendance and progress records
  • Prepare resources in advance and ensure materials are cared for and stored properly

Essential requirements

  • Fluent Urdu (speaking, reading and writing)
  • Experience working with children in the UK, ideally in EYFS, primary, nursery, school or club settings
  • Confident leading groups of children independently
  • Friendly, approachable and able to engage children positively
  • Reliable and able to commit consistently on Saturdays
  • DBS check (or willingness to apply)

Important information

  • Parking at MAC is pay-and-display and availability can vary
  • This role is best suited to someone local to Birmingham or able to travel reliably
