Company Overview

We are a rapidly-growing, proprietary-technology driven, specialist wastewater and filtration business delivering very exciting filtration treatment equipment to UK utilities, Tier 1 contractors, and international clients at a time where there is real momentum to adapt to challenges that we are very well positioned to address. Our projects span municipal and industrial wastewater applications, including export projects delivered through partners. As our portfolio grows, we are seeking an entrepreneurial and senior engineering-led project manager to oversee technical delivery.

Role Overview

The Lead Project Engineer will have overall responsibility for engineering and technical delivery of wastewater projects from contract award through to commissioning and handover.

This role is officed based at our facility in Wigan, UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Have end-to-end engineering responsibility for the delivery of multiple wastewater & treatment projects
  • Act as technical authority for the business on wastewater and treatment equipment
  • Support sales and proposals with technical input, concept development, and risk assessment
  • Develop and improve standard designs, technical documentation, and engineering processes as the business scale
  • Coordinate and technically lead multidisciplinary delivery partners (mechanical, process, electrical, ICA, fabrication, installation)
  • Own technical risk, design assurance, and engineering decisions
  • Define design intent and review, develop, produce and approve SolidWorks-based mechanical designs, GA layouts, and fabrication drawings
  • Ensure designs are DFMA with a focus on efficient site installation and maintenance
  • Act as primary engineering technical interface with clients and contractors
  • Take responsibility for procurement, manufacture, FAT, installation support, and commissioning activities, working directly with suppliers and contractors
  • Support programme, cost control, and change management
  • Ensure compliance with safety and industry standards

Required Experience & Skills

  • Degree-qualified engineer (mechanical, process, or related)
  • Typically 5+ years’ experience in wastewater or water treatment
  • Proven project engineering management experience
  • Strong understanding of wastewater processes and mechanical systems
  • Solid working knowledge of SolidWorks for mechanical equipment
  • Experience with UK utilities and/or Tier 1 contractors
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
  • Comfortable working as a standalone senior engineer within a growing, fast-moving business
  • Able to balance technical detail with commercial, programme, and delivery pressures

Desirable

  • Chartered Engineer status
  • Export or international project experience
  • Background with specialist equipment suppliers or packaged plant

This is not a corporate project role. It is a senior, accountable engineering position offering genuine ownership, influence, and the opportunity to help shape how a growing technology-led business delivers its projects.
