Full job description

Levens Hall is looking to appoint a number of hardworking and enthusiastic gardeners following recent retirements.

Levens Hall has a historically significant and world famous garden that receives in excess of 40,000 visitors each year in addition to numerous events. The garden regularly features in in Television programmes and magazine articles.

The successful candidates will join a strong and dedicated team who maintain and enhance this world-famous award-winning Garden all year round.

The role includes;

- Assisting in the general maintenance and development of the Gardens, working efficiently, safely and to a high standard, as directed by the Head Gardener;

- Using machinery and equipment as instructed, in a careful and safe manner;

- Maintaining good working relationships with colleagues across the whole site, including assisting and instructing apprentices and volunteers where required;

- Being professionally helpful to visitors, answering questions about the Garden as required;

- Occasionally, in the absence of the Head Gardener, giving short talks to visitors to introduce the Gardens;

- Providing weekend or evening cover on a rota basis;

Applicants must be physically fit, proficient at operating horticultural machinery and have the ability to work at height to assist in the clipping of the topiary.

This role could be full time or part time with some flexibility around days and hours of work.

Pay: £12.71 per hour

Expected hours: 32 per week
