About Pipe Dream Fittings: Pipe Dream Fittings is a leading distributor of high quality, pipeline products, specialising in stainless steel tubes, pipes, ball valves, fittings, black malleable iron fittings, galvanised iron fittings, copper tube, copper fittings and much more.

Job Summary: We are seeking a hands-on Warehouse Manager to lead our warehouse operations and ensure the efficient receipt, storage, picking, packing, despatch, and light manufacturing of a diverse range of pipeline products. Managing a small team of 5 warehouse staff, you will maintain accurate stock levels across over 100,000 SKUs, organise varying parcel sizes from single fittings in small boxes to full arctic loads and play a key role in implementing a new stock management system to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and scalability. This practical, operational role involves active participation in day to day activities, including overseeing light manufacturing processes such as pipe threading and cutting, while driving improvements to support our fast despatch commitments and high service standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate, and manage a team of 5 warehouse operatives, including task allocation, training, performance monitoring, and fostering a positive, safety-focused culture.
  • Oversee all daily warehouse operations: goods receiving, quality checks, put-away, picking, packing, labelling, and despatch to meet same-day processing targets for orders received before 4pm.
  • Manage and supervise light manufacturing activities, including the operation of threading and cutting machines running throughout the day to provide custom pipe preparation services (e.g., precise threading and cutting to customer specifications).
  • Maintain precise inventory accuracy across 100,000+ SKUs, conducting regular cycle counts, stock audits, reconciliations, and investigating discrepancies.
  • Organise and optimise storage for a wide variety of product sizes and types, from small boxed fittings to long-length tubes/pipes and bulk loads, ensuring safe, efficient space utilisation and easy access.
  • Actively participate in the implementation and rollout of a new warehouse/stock management system from a practical perspective, including staff training, testing, data migration, and ongoing optimisation to improve stock visibility, operational efficiency, and integration with light manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards for handling pipeline products (including heavy or long items) and operating machinery such as threading and cutting equipment.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators such as stock accuracy, despatch times, picking efficiency, space utilisation, machine uptime/productivity in light manufacturing, and custom order turnaround; implement process improvements to reduce errors and increase overall productivity.
  • Maintain warehouse cleanliness, equipment (e.g., forklifts, racking, threading machines, cutting machines), and a safe working environment.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, transport partners, and internal teams to resolve issues, manage incoming deliveries, prioritise urgent customer orders, and support custom manufacturing requests.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Warehouse Manager, Supervisor, or similar hands-on leadership role in a distribution, industrial, trade supplies, or light manufacturing environment (ideally dealing with metal/pipe products, plumbing/heating supplies, or similar, including exposure to pipe threading and cutting operations).
  • Strong track record in inventory control and stock accuracy, preferably with high SKU counts (10,000+).
  • Experience overseeing or operating light manufacturing equipment, such as threading and cutting machines, with an understanding of setup, daily operation, maintenance, and quality control for custom pipe preparation.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage diverse product dimensions, parcel sizes, and integrated warehouse/manufacturing workflows efficiently.
  • Hands-on approach comfortable with physical tasks such as lifting, moving stock, operating warehouse equipment, and supervising/using threading and cutting machinery (forklift certification preferred; experience with pipe processing machinery advantageous).
  • Solid leadership and people management skills for a small team, with a focus on motivation, training, and accountability.
  • Good IT skills, including proficiency in inventory software, Microsoft Office (especially Excel), and willingness to learn new systems.
  • Knowledge of health & safety best practices in a warehouse and light manufacturing setting, including safe operation of machinery.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and a customer-focused mindset to support fast, reliable despatch and custom manufacturing services.

Qualifications

  • Relevant vocational qualifications or experience equivalent (e.g., in logistics, supply chain, warehouse operations, or light manufacturing/metal processing).
  • Forklift licence (or willingness to obtain) advantageous; certification or experience with pipe threading/cutting equipment beneficial.

What We Offer

  • £34,000 - £43,000 depending on experience.
  • Opportunity to make a real impact in a growing, customer-centric business with integrated distribution and light manufacturing.
  • Hands-on role with variety and responsibility, including daily involvement in warehouse and custom processing activities.
  • Supportive team environment with a focus on long-term relationships internally and with customers.
  • Potential for career development as the company grows.

If you are a proactive, detail-oriented leader passionate about efficient warehouse operations, light manufacturing processes, and ready to help drive our next phase of growth, we want to hear from you!
