We are a dedicated alternative provision tutoring service, seeking self-employed tutors with resilience, perseverance, and a trauma-informed approach to education. This role offers a unique opportunity to support vulnerable children, including those in care or with a social worker, through one-to-one mentoring and tutoring.

About the Role:

  • Flexible, self-employed position with multiple hours available to suit your availability.
  • Face-to-face tutoring sessions take place during school hours (9 am – 3 pm)—no after-school or weekend work.
  • Competitive pay rate: up to £35 per hour (depending on certain factors), plus mileage reimbursement (£0.40 per mile).
  • The role is ideal for individuals with significant life experience, an education background, or transferable skills, who are passionate about making a difference in children’s lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver one-to-one mentoring and tutoring tailored to the needs of each child.
  • Support young people to overcome social and emotional barriers to learning.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders, including schools, social workers, and families.
  • Monitor and track progress, ensuring positive educational and personal development outcomes.

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) from a UK institution. (Relevant teaching qualifications may be considered)
  • Experience in tutoring, mentoring, or alternative education settings.
  • A trauma-informed approach to working with vulnerable children.
  • Must be based in Peterborough or surrounding areas.
  • A current enhanced DBS check registered on the update service.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a car.

If you are committed to transforming the educational experiences of children who need it most, we would love to hear from you. To apply, you will be required to complete an application form, which will be sent to you upon request.
