Overview
We are seeking a skilled Metal Worker to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for fabricating metal components with precision and attention to detail. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where craftsmanship and mechanical expertise are highly valued. The ideal applicant will possess a strong understanding of metalworking techniques and tools, contributing to the production of high-quality metal products. The business predominantly uses mild steel and stainless and the candidate would ideally have experience in fabricating with both materials.

Hours of work are Monday to Thursday 06:30-16:45.

There is a bonus scheme in place for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate metal parts and components using various techniques including welding, grinding, and cutting.
  • Operate hand tools and specialised tooling to shape, assemble, and finish metal pieces.
  • Perform welding tasks to join sheet metal and other metal components according to specifications.
  • Use grinding equipment to smooth surfaces and prepare materials for assembly or finishing.
  • Follow technical drawings and blueprints to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly of parts.
  • Conduct basic measurements and calculations using mathematical skills to verify dimensions and tolerances.
  • Assist in the assembly of metal structures or products, ensuring adherence to safety standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organised workspace, ensuring all tools and materials are properly stored after use.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in fabrication and welding being proficient in MIG and TIG welding processes.
  • Mechanical knowledge with an understanding of sheet metal properties and handling techniques.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and specialised tooling for metalwork tasks.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics accurately.
  • Good basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and quality checks.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety standards at all times.
  • Physical ability to handle heavy materials and operate equipment safely throughout the shift.
