Berry Hill Foods has an immediate opening for a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to maintain production equipment.

The successful candidate will join our team to provide preventative and reactive maintenance support to the food production facilities.
This opportunity involves mechanical repairs, electro/mechanical troubleshooting, and assistance with installation of new equipment; working toward improved equipment efficiency and maintaining a safe working environment.

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Mechanic to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting a variety of industrial equipment and systems. This role requires a strong mechanical and electrical background, along with leadership qualities to oversee maintenance activities and ensure optimal operational efficiency.
The Maintenance Mechanic will play a vital role in minimising downtime and supporting continuous production processes, contributing to the overall success of the organisation.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Diagnose faults using schematics, technical manuals, and diagnostic tools, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
  • Repair or replace faulty components, including mechanical parts, electrical systems, and control panels.
  • Perform welding and other fabrication tasks as required for repairs or modifications.
  • Read and interpret technical schematics, wiring diagrams, and maintenance manuals accurately.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used for accountability and future reference.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and procedures during all maintenance operations.
  • Collaborate with production teams to minimise downtime and coordinate maintenance schedules effectively.
  • Assist in training staff on basic maintenance procedures and safety protocols.
  • Willingness work both inside and outside, and in all weather conditions and temperatures.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in industrial maintenance with strong mechanical knowledge.
  • Electrical experience, including working with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and electrical schematics.
  • Skilled in welding techniques suitable for industrial applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to read technical schematics and wiring diagrams accurately.
  • Supervising or leadership experience is desirable to oversee team activities effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Forklift qualification; or ability to qualify for license
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently.
  • Customer service orientation to support internal teams effectively.
  • Relevant certifications or qualifications in mechanical or electrical engineering are preferred. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Maintenance Mechanic to contribute significantly to our operational excellence while developing their skills within a dynamic environment.
