Deputy Store Manager – Charity Retail (Porthcawl)

Location: Porthcawl
Organisation: Farplace Animal Rescue
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 15 hours per week (weekend working required on a rota basis)
Salary: £12.21 per hour

Farplace Animal Rescue is a well-established animal welfare charity with a growing network of charity retail stores across the UK. We are looking for a reliable, motivated Deputy Store Manager to support the management of our Porthcawl store, including managing the store in the Store Manager’s absence, while helping to deliver strong retail performance & excellent standards.

The Role

As Deputy Store Manager, you will support the Store Manager in the day-to-day running of the store & take full responsibility for managing the store when the Store Manager is absent.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting daily store operations, sales targets & KPIs
  • Managing the store in the Store Manager’s absence
  • Driving Gift Aid sign-ups, PayByLink sales & donations
  • Supervising staff & volunteers, leading by example on the shop floor
  • Maintaining high standards of visual merchandising & stock rotation
  • Assisting with rotas, absence reporting & staff support
  • Ensuring compliance with health & safety, cash handling & GDPR requirements
  • Delivering excellent customer service at all times

About You

We are looking for someone who is confident, organised & capable of taking responsibility when required.

You will ideally have:

  • Retail supervisory or team leader experience (charity retail desirable but not essential)
  • Confidence to lead the store independently when required
  • The ability to motivate & support staff & volunteers
  • Confidence in working towards targets & KPIs
  • A hands-on, flexible & positive approach
  • Willingness to work weekends on a rota basis
