Job Description

Aramark UK are currently recruiting a Chef to join our team working at Hartpury University & College, Hartpury House, Gloucester, GL19 3BE.

We are looking for a talented, reliable individual to join us as a Chef at Hartpury University and College. Within this role, you will plan, prepare, and present food that meets high standards of taste, quality, and safety. This role goes beyond just cooking—it involves creativity, leadership, and operational efficiency.

Hartpury University and Hartpury College is a specialist institution near Gloucester, England, focused on animal, agriculture, business, equine, sport, and veterinary nursing education. The campus is a 360-hectare rural estate with significant investments in facilities, including a working farm, an Agri-Tech Centre, equine and canine centres, and professional sports facilities

A day in the life of a Chef:

  • Design and update menus based on seasonal ingredients, customer preferences, and cost considerations
  • Innovate new dishes and maintain consistency in taste and presentation
  • Prepare and cook meals to high standards of quality and flavor
  • Ensure portion control and presentation meet restaurant or organizational guidelines
  • Comply with health and safety regulations, including proper food storage and handling
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen at all times
  • Monitor stock levels, order supplies, and minimize waste
  • Control food costs while maintaining quality standards
  • Supervise kitchen staff, delegate tasks, and ensure smooth kitchen operations.
  • Train team members on cooking techniques, safety practices, and quality standards.
  • Conduct regular checks to ensure dishes meet taste, texture, and presentation standards.
  • Address customer feedback and make improvements where necessary
  • Work closely with front-of-house staff to ensure timely service
  • Communicate effectively with suppliers and management

  • Experience operating as a Chef
  • Ability to lead a team to success
  • Strong communication skills
  • Food safety experience
