Companion Carer for Elderly Lady with Alzheimer’s

We are seeking a kind, patient, and reliable Companion Carer to support a lovely 79-year-old woman living with Alzheimer’s in the Rosemout area of Aberdeen.

This is a rewarding role focused on companionship, gentle assistance, and helping her enjoy daily activities in a familiar and comfortable environment. The position is part-time, flexible,hours can be discussed

About the Role

You will provide friendly companionship and light support to enhance her quality of life, reduce feelings of isolation, and maintain her routine. Key responsibilities include:

  • Offering emotional support and engaging in meaningful conversation, reminiscence, or simple activities (e.g., reading, listening to music, or playing gentle games).
  • Accompanying her on short, enjoyable walks in safe areas.
  • Going out for coffee, visits to local spots, or other outings she enjoys.
  • Assisting with light shopping trips (e.g., groceries or small errands).
  • Helping with transport to and attendance at appointments (e.g., medical or social).
  • Providing gentle reminders for daily routines where needed, with patience and understanding of Alzheimer’s symptoms.
  • Light housekeeping tasks related to her comfort .

This role emphasises companionship over intensive personal care, though some light assistance may be required as her needs evolve.

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working with elderly individuals, particularly those with Alzheimer’s or dementia (preferred but not essential)
  • A warm, empathetic, and patient personality with excellent communication skills.
  • Reliable, trustworthy, and respectful of privacy and dignity.
  • Physically able to support gentle walks and outings.
  • A dog owner or animal lover is particularly welcome, as she adores animals and finds them comforting.
  • Driver with a clean licence and own car .

Not essential

(desirable for outings and appointments; mileage reimbursement available).

  • Right to work in the UK.
