Full job description

Are you looking for a few hours of well-paid work each week? Are you empathetic, reliable and good with people?

Diverse Paths is looking for mentors to work with young people with autism and other learning and developmental needs. We help people who have disengaged from education discover their interests and take steps towards confidence at a pace that works for them.

Are you someone who…

  • Is prepared to put the young people first.
  • Is good at reading people? Do you pick up on body language and understand people's thoughts and motivations in a way that others might not?
  • Finds that people open up to you and tell you that you're a good listener?
  • Handles difficult conversations with tact and diplomacy, helping people reach a resolution that enables them to move forward?
  • Stays calm when other people are experiencing intense emotions?

If you're naturally perceptive, emotionally intelligent and good at helping people feel understood, we'd love to hear from you.

At Diverse Paths, we help young people find their way back to learning, self-esteem and a sense of possibility — through relationships built on trust, understanding and genuine collaboration.

Pay: £25.00-£35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 1.0 – 6.0 per week

Application question(s):

  • How would you approach a young person who is refusing to engage with planned activities?
  • How would you help a young person to re-discover their motivation and confidence?
  • This is a part-time, self-employed role, and you will need to undergo a full,enhanced DBS. Are you happy with this arrangement?
