Full job description
Weekend Working: Occasionally
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join North Yorkshire Council’s Early Help Service in the WEST locality area as a Children and Families Support Worker. This involves working in partnership to deliver a wide range of interventions and support to parents, carers, children, young people and their families to improve outcomes.
The successful candidate will join an established team, supervising court directed contacts for children and families open to Children’s Social Care and delivering group sessions to children and parents. These sessions often involve transporting children, so having your own car would be essential. It also includes direct work with children, young people and their families to understanding and strategies for areas such as early speech and language, wellbeing, parenting and healthy relationships. You will also work closely with the community and voluntary sectors to identify partnership ways of working to improve outcomes for Children and their families.
Based at Knaresborough Children and Family hub in Knaresborough, you will be required to work across the West district. The role will also involve supporting colleagues across other areas and travel further afield where necessary to support children and families. While not an essential requirement listed in the job description, access to a car would significantly support your ability to carry out the role effectively, given the nature of the work. North Yorkshire Council supports Hybrid way of working.
The successful candidates will have experience of working directly with vulnerable children or young people and their families. Due to the nature of the service delivery the role will include working early evenings with occasional weekends. The hours and days to be discussed at the interview. Candidates must be highly focussed, committed, and adaptable individuals who have an aptitude to work in a fast-paced environment and have good organisational and communication skills.
North Yorkshire’s Children and Families service has an excellent reputation and received Outstanding across all areas when inspected by Ofsted. This role offers the successful candidate a unique opportunity to join one of the best Children and Families services in the country, as well as the opportunity to develop your professional skills and your career in an exciting, challenging but supportive environment.
