Role overview
It is essential for this role that you have a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle that has business insurance.
RAW, working in partnership with the NHS, is driving a vibrant new approach to working with young people (YP) with complex needs across the Thames Valley area. This service will have the young person at the heart of everything it does, working to bring the YP, their families, the third sector and professional colleagues together with the common goal of providing the best possible outcomes and future for the young person in an innovative way.
You will need to be adaptable, creative, a great communicator and have an immense passion to improve the services available to young people. You’ll be driven to improve the lives of young people who come into the service.
This work is delivered in partnership with local CAMHs teams and other statutory providers including Social Care and Youth Justice. Our Youth workers work directly with children, young people and their families, helping them to build life skills, develop healthy relationships and make decisions that are right for them.
In your role, you will establish good rapport and effective relationships with CYP and work to increase their confidence and ambition. At times, you will simply be talking to CYP and helping them participate in various activities such as arts, music, or sports. Other times, you will assess the needs of the CYP in the community and match them with programmes related to certain areas (examples: health and fitness, drugs and alcohol, relationships, bullying, education, homelessness, mental health, etc.) The goal will be to ensure the CYP are heard and supported, and that they have everything they need to continue on in making a positive contribution to society.
Key tasks & responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality compassionate mentorship, support, and coaching to young people in the community
- Enhance the wellbeing of young people by assessing their needs and ensuring they are given the tools needed to thrive
- Work in collaboration and partnership with professionals and other organisations as needed
- Manage unanticipated events or unstable situations in a timely professional manner
- Organise your time and resources based on the individual needs of each young person
- Participate in administrative duties and project planning
- To act as an advocate/coordinator for CYP and families across a range of professionals
- Deliver an outreach function meeting/working with the CYP and families face to face where they live in the community
