Looking for More Than Just a Care Job?

At the Institute of Our Lady of Mercy, care isn't simply what we do – it's who we are.

We're looking for compassionate, dedicated Care Assistants who genuinely care about helping older people live fulfilling, dignified, and independent lives. If you're the kind of person who takes the time to listen, enjoys making someone's day brighter, and believes that great care comes from the heart, we'd love to hear from you.

Unlike many care providers, we are a non-profit organisation. That means our focus is on people, not profits. Every day, our team works together to create a warm, welcoming home where our Religious Sisters feel valued, respected, and supported.

This isn't just another care role. It's an opportunity to become part of a close-knit religious community where kindness, compassion, and meaningful relationships are at the heart of everything we do.

About the Role:

As a Care Assistant, you'll play a vital role in supporting our Sisters with their daily lives while helping them maintain their independence, dignity, and sense of purpose.

Whether you're providing personal care, sharing a conversation over a cup of tea, supporting independence, or simply being there when someone needs a friendly face, you'll make a real difference every single day – and have the time to do it!

Working alongside a dedicated team, you'll help create a safe, happy, and caring environment where Sisters can continue to thrive.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Providing high-quality, person-centred care
  • Supporting Sisters with personal care and daily living activities
  • Promoting dignity, choice, and independence
  • Building meaningful relationships with residents and colleagues
  • Supporting Sisters to remain active members of the community
  • Maintaining accurate care records
  • Working as part of a supportive and caring team

We're Looking for Someone Who...

✔ Truly cares about people

✔ Treats others with kindness, dignity, and respect

✔ Enjoys working as part of a team

✔ Has experience supporting older people, including those living with dementia

✔ Wants to make a positive difference every day

  • Experience working in residential care for older people
  • Level 2 Health & Social Care qualification (or be willing to work towards it)
  • Good communication skills
  • Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check and provide references

We Offer:

  • 30 days annual leave (pro rata, increasing to 35 with service milestones)
  • Paid breaks
  • Uniform provided
  • Subsidised meals during shifts
  • Free on-site parking
  • Stunning sea views and a homely working environment
  • Employee Assistance Programme with 24/7 support and counselling
  • Access to over 6,000 discounts on travel, shopping, leisure, and more
  • Cycle to Work Scheme
  • Ongoing training and development opportunities
  • The chance to work for a values-led, non-profit organisation where people always come first
