Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a vigilant and professional Security Officer to ensure the safety and security of our premises, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring activities through surveillance systems, conducting patrols, and implementing loss prevention measures. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where attention to detail and quick response are essential. The Security Officer will play a vital part in maintaining a secure environment and upholding the organisation’s safety standards.

Duties

  • Conduct regular patrols of the premises to identify any security breaches or hazards.
  • Monitor surveillance equipment such as CCTV cameras to oversee activity across the site.
  • Respond promptly to security incidents, including alarms or suspicious activity.
  • Assist in loss prevention by observing and deterring theft or unauthorised access.
  • Maintain detailed logs of activities, incidents, and observations during shifts.
  • Provide first aid assistance when necessary, following organisational protocols.
  • Enforce access control procedures, verifying identification and authorisation of visitors and staff.
  • Collaborate with local law enforcement or emergency services when required.
  • Ensure all security equipment is functioning correctly and report any faults or issues.

Experience

  • Previous experience in security or a related field is preferred but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates.
  • Knowledge of surveillance techniques, CCTV operation, and loss prevention strategies is advantageous.
  • First aid certification or experience is desirable to handle emergency situations effectively.
  • Strong observational skills with the ability to remain alert over extended periods.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to document incidents accurately and liaise with team members.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond swiftly to emergencies in line with organisational policies.
