About Us

At Stephenson Commercials Ltd we are a family run, well-established and reputable commercial vehicle maintenance provider.

We will soon be operating from a newly built modern, fully equipped workshop and pride ourselves on a supportive environment where quality workmanship is valued above all else. Join us and help keep the nation's logistics moving safely and efficiently.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and highly motivated HGV Fitter to join our busy team. You will be responsible for the ongoing repair, maintenance, servicing, and inspection of a diverse fleet of heavy goods vehicles and trailers, ensuring all work is carried out to the highest standards and in line with DVSA/VOSA requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults using advanced diagnostic equipment and problem-solving skills.
  • Perform routine servicing, preventative maintenance, and major/minor repairs on a variety of HGVs, trailers, and other commercial vehicles.
  • Prepare vehicles for annual MOT and VOSA inspections, ensuring all work meets the highest standards.
  • Complete all required documentation, service reports accurately and efficiently.
  • Adhere to all health and safety guidelines and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to keep pace with industry advancements and new vehicle technology.

What We Are Looking For

  • Proven experience as an HGV Technician or in a similar role.
  • Relevant technical qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent time-served experience).
  • Strong knowledge of HGV systems, including air brakes, suspension, engines, and electrical systems.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and general workshop equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A valid UK driving licence is essential; an HGV Class 1 or Class 2 licence is desirable but not essential.

Start date February 2026

Hours are 08.00 to 17.00 Monday to Friday and Saturday morning. Saturday hours can be negotiated at interview to accommodate family life.

Benefits include a market competitive salary. 20 days a year plus bank holidays, birthday and Christmas Eve ( unless it’s a weekend )

Wage: £35 000 - £50 000 per annum
