Location: London, Greater London, United Kingdom

FTE 0.4 (15 hours per week)

Salary: Pro-Rata to £30,100 to £37,300 per annum (£12,040 - £15,040 actual)

Role Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Media Lecturer specialising in 2D Animation to join our team. This pivotal role involves delivering engaging, high-quality teaching that develops students’ skills and creativity in 2D animation, preparing them for successful careers in the media and creative industries.

This part-time, permanent position offers a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the success of our students and the wider Access Education Group community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver inspiring lectures and practical sessions on 2D animation techniques, principles, and software.
  • Design and assess coursework, projects, and examinations that reflect current industry standards and best practices.
  • Support and mentor students to develop their creative and technical skills, encouraging independent learning and critical thinking.
  • Stay up-to-date with developments in 2D animation, media technologies, and educational methodologies to ensure course content remains current and relevant.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement processes.
  • Engage with industry professionals and external organisations to build partnerships and enhance student learning opportunities, such as guest lectures, workshops, or placements.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, staff development activities, and institutional initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, safeguarding policies, and quality assurance procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Animation, Media, Digital Arts, or a closely related discipline.
  • Proven experience in 2D animation production, with strong skills in relevant software such as Adobe Animate, Toon Boom Harmony, or equivalent.
  • Previous teaching or lecturing experience at further or higher education level is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of curriculum design and assessment within the education sector.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate students.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with industry trends.
  • Familiarity with safeguarding and equality legislation in education.
