Full job description
The Three Counties Medical School (TCMS) at the University of Worcester invites applications from outstanding educators to join our growing faculty. As a school with a strong mission to widen access to medicine and retain graduates within the local workforce, TCMS offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a progressive, community-engaged medical programme.
This post is essential to ensure the high-quality, consistent delivery of Anatomy teaching, embedded within the wider medical sciences curriculum, and to support compliance with the General Medical Council (GMC) requirements. The role is central to the development of safe, competent, and patient-centred practitioners, providing students with a robust understanding of human structure and its relationship to function, pathology, and clinical practice.
The successful candidate will take a leading role in the design, development, and delivery of Anatomy education across the MBChB and MSc Physician Associate (PA) programmes. You will contribute to the development of innovative, integrated learning materials that align anatomy with other core medical sciences and clinical application. This may include practical teaching (e.g. models, imaging), simulation, and technology-enhanced learning approaches. You will also play a key role in assessment design and delivery, ensuring that anatomical knowledge is assessed in clinically meaningful and applied contexts. The post holder will work closely with Phase and Programme Leads to ensure a high-quality, cohesive, and integrated student learning experience.
Applicants are expected to demonstrate engagement with scholarship or research in anatomical sciences, medical sciences, medical education, or a related field. You will contribute to the School’s academic community through research, innovation, or pedagogic development, particularly in areas that enhance integration across the medical sciences curriculum.
The post is offered at Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level depending on qualifications, knowledge, skills, and experience. Ideally, you will have experience of teaching Anatomy and/or medical sciences to medical or healthcare students. However, equally important is a commitment to developing as a medical educator, the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, and flexibility to contribute across an integrated MBChB curriculum. Opportunities for professional development and educational leadership are available.
If you are interested in joining us at this exciting time and would relish the opportunity to shape the delivery of Anatomy within an integrated medical sciences curriculum at TCMS, as we train the next generation of healthcare professionals, we warmly welcome your application.
