Mackie Transmissions Established 48 Years, are hiring :

MOTOR VEHICLE TECHNICIAN/MECHANIC

John Mackie Automatic and Manual Transmissions Ltd is an industry leading specialist, we are looking to appoint a self-motivated, and experienced Automotive Technician/Transmission Technician for our remove/refit and diagnostic workshop. (Experience of Transmissions both Manual and Automatic would be an advantage, although further training to Mackie standards will be provided).

Mackie Transmissions has been established for over 48 years, and still a family business, employing over 25 people, many of our staff have been with Mackie for over 25 years, therefore if you are looking for a friendly, stable and rewarding career with no pressure or stress, we would welcome your application.

Would consider 3rd year apprentice

Working within our highly skilled team you will undertake fault finding, removal and installation of both automatic and manual gearboxes and road testing to an extremely high standard, working swiftly and efficiently to create a safe and productive environment. Your main duties will be to ensure that all vehicles you work on are completed on time and to a very high standard.

In the job you will:

  • Carry out testing and diagnostic work
  • Remove and install both automatic and manual transmissions
  • Plan necessary work and order parts to ensure vehicles are ready as promptly as possible
  • Accurately report vehicle faults and work carried out, for ease of reference by service reception
  • Train and mentor apprentices when required
  • Maintain knowledge of technical developments through attending training courses and developmental activities as required.

The ideal candidate will be proficient in the following:

  • Time served within the Automotive Industry.
  • Be quality focused and target driven
  • Experienced in problem solving
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Hold a full UK Drivers Licence (essential)
  • Have a positive mental attitude and a willingness to learn
