Job Summary

We are looking for a friendly, organised and proactive Gallery & Customer Services Assistant to join our small team. This is a varied role, ideal for someone who enjoys working with people and takes pride in creating a welcoming, well-presented gallery.

You’ll be responsible for helping the gallery run smoothly day-to-day, ensuring visitors receive excellent customer service while supporting online orders, stock management and general gallery operations.

Responsibilities

Customer Service

  • Welcome visitors and provide a warm, professional experience.
  • Offer knowledgeable advice on artwork, prints and giftware.
  • Answer customer enquiries in person, by telephone and online.
  • Follow up customer enquiries and courtesy calls where appropriate.

Gallery Presentation

  • Water and care for gallery plants.
  • Ensure the gallery is clean, tidy and well presented at all times.
  • Keep display stands, card racks and product displays fully stocked and organised.
  • Monitor stock levels on the shop floor and replenish as required.

Stock Management

  • Restock brochures at local visitor locations, including museums, railway stations and other tourism venues.
  • Replenish carrier bags and packaging materials.
  • Re-order stock and packaging supplies when required.
  • Assist with regular stock checks and inventory management.

Sales & Administration

  • Process customer orders accurately.
  • Enter sales and orders into Shopify.
  • Prepare invoices and paperwork where required.
  • Maintain accurate records of stock and customer orders.

Packaging & Dispatch

  • Carefully package artwork and gift products to a high standard.
  • Book courier collections using DelSol (or other courier systems).
  • Prepare shipments for UK and international customers.

General Duties

  • Support the smooth day-to-day running of the gallery.
  • Assist with seasonal displays and merchandising.
  • Help maintain high standards throughout the gallery.
  • Undertake other reasonable duties as required, eg. mounting prints.
  • Assist with social media content, including photographing new artwork, products and gallery displays for Instagram and Facebook.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • A friendly, positive and professional manner.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Confidence using computers and learning new software (Shopify experience desirable but not essential).
  • The ability to work independently and use initiative.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • A practical, hands-on approach with a willingness to help wherever needed.

Desirable

  • Fluent Welsh speaker.
  • Retail, gallery or hospitality experience.
  • Interest in art, design or North Wales.

Pay: From £14.00 per hour
