Full job description

About Our Client
Our client is a well-established, privately owned contemporary art gallery in Ascot, on the Berkshire/Surrey border. It represents a roster of in-demand contemporary artists and also holds secondary-market works by some of the best-known names in modern art. Its small, experienced team is known for a personal, relationship-led approach, both in the gallery and online.

The Role
We're looking for a commercially driven Sales Manager to lead the gallery's sales and grow its client base. It's a hands-on role combining high-end retail, client relationships and the gallery's online presence. You'll own the sales numbers, the collector relationships and how the artwork is shown online.
Weekends are the gallery's busiest trading days, so weekend work is part of the rota.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead sales: Hit and beat monthly targets through in-gallery consultations, follow-ups and proactive outreach.
  • Collector relationships: Build and look after a loyal client base. Keep collectors updated on new works, releases and exhibitions.
  • Online sales: Manage artwork listings on the gallery's Shopify website, keeping prices, stock, descriptions and images accurate.
  • Imagery: Prepare and edit artwork photography in Photoshop for the website, email campaigns and social media.
  • Exhibitions and events: Help plan, hang and host exhibitions and evening launches, and turn event guests into buyers.
  • Business development: Find new routes to sale, such as home consultations, partnerships, corporate clients and art fairs.

About You

  • A proven track record in high-end sales (fine art, luxury retail, prestige automotive, interiors or similar), with figures to back it up.
  • Confident using Shopify (or a similar e-commerce platform) to manage products and orders.
  • Working knowledge of Photoshop, including cropping, colour correction and preparing images for web.
  • A natural communicator who can talk with confidence to experienced collectors and first-time buyers alike.
  • Self-motivated and happy to pitch in across a small business, from admin to wrapping and dispatching artwork.
  • Flexible with a rota that includes weekends.
  • Knowledge of Ascot and the surrounding Berkshire and Surrey area is a real advantage.

What's On Offer

  • Salary of £30,000–£55,000, depending on experience, plus a performance-related bonus.
  • A beautiful working environment, surrounded by important contemporary art every day.
  • Real influence: your ideas will shape how the gallery sells, in person and online.

To Apply: Send your CV and a short cover note covering your sales experience and your interest in art.

Our client is an equal opportunity employer, committed to an inclusive workplace. All appointments are made on merit against the criteria in this advert.
By applying, you consent to your personal data being processed for recruitment purposes in line with UK GDPR. If your application is unsuccessful, your data will be securely deleted after 6 months unless you ask us to do so sooner.
All candidates must provide evidence of their right to work in the UK at interview stage..

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £30,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
