Audio Visual Technician – Live Event Production

St Albans
Full-time | Permanent
⏱ Minimum 40 hours per week (including evenings and weekends)

About the Role

Just Smile is a growing live events production company delivering audio visual hire, sound, lighting, staging and rigging for conferences, festivals, luxury weddings and private events.

We are looking for a reliable and experienced Audio Visual Technician to join our team. This is a hands-on role involving the preparation, installation and operation of professional AV equipment at live events.

You will work alongside our production team to deliver high-quality events while maintaining the professional standards expected in the live events industry.

This role is ideal for someone with experience working within an AV hire company, production company, or live events environment.

Key ResponsibilitiesEvent Setup & Technical Delivery

  • Install and dismantle audio visual systems including sound, lighting and video
  • Setup and operate lighting desks, moving lights and DMX control systems
  • Install and operate PA systems and live sound equipment
  • Provide technical support during events to ensure smooth operation
  • Assist with stage builds (indoor & outdoor) including staging and carpeting

Equipment & Logistics

  • Prepare and check AV equipment for upcoming events
  • Load, transport and unload equipment for events
  • Drive company vans to deliver and collect equipment from venues
  • Assist with equipment maintenance and warehouse organisation

Client & Venue Interaction

  • Represent the company professionally when working with clients, venues and guests
  • Maintain a smart, presentable and professional appearance
  • Work closely with team members to ensure events are delivered to a high standard

Skills & Experience Required

  • Experience working in live events production or AV hire
  • Strong technical knowledge of sound, lighting and video systems
  • Experience setting up and operating professional PA systems
  • Experience programming DMX lighting systems
  • Experience using Avolites or Chamsys lighting desks
  • Experience working with Allen & Heath or Yamaha mixing consoles
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a technical team
  • Good organisation and time management skills
  • A proactive “can do” attitude

Essential Requirements

  • Full UK Driving Licence (required)
  • Comfortable driving vans and transporting equipment
  • Able to lift and move AV equipment
  • Comfortable working evenings and weekends
