Audit Senior – Prominent Independent Firm
Southend-on-Sea

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Audit Senior to join a well-established and highly regarded Essex based independent accountancy practice. This role is ideal for an ACA/ACCA newly qualified or part-qualified professional looking to take the next step in their career within a pure audit position, offering strong progression prospects.

The Role

Working closely with partners and managers, you will take responsibility for a varied and interesting audit portfolio, working with a broad range of clients from SMEs and owner-managed businesses to larger groups with turnovers exceeding £100m.

This is a predominantly audit-focused role, offering excellent exposure to complex assignments and the opportunity to build strong client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and undertake audit assignments from planning through to completion
  • Manage a diverse portfolio of clients across multiple sectors
  • Prepare and review audit files, ensuring compliance with relevant standards
  • Liaise directly with clients, building strong and lasting relationships
  • Identify risk areas and provide practical recommendations
  • Supervise, mentor, and review the work of junior staff
  • Support managers and partners on larger or more complex engagements
  • Ensure all assignments are delivered to deadline and budget

About You

  • ACA or ACCA part-qualified or recently qualified
  • Proven experience within an accountancy practice in an audit-focused role
  • Strong technical audit knowledge and understanding of compliance requirements
  • Experience working with a varied client base, ideally including SMEs and groups
  • Confident leading audits and managing client relationships
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work both independently and as part of a team
