Full job description

Love proper pubs? Enjoy leading people? Looking to build a long-term career with an independent pub group that genuinely invests in its team?

If so, we'd love to hear from you.

We're looking for an experienced Bar Manager to join the team at The Fox Inn in Broadwell.

The Fox is a busy village pub with a loyal local following and visitors from across the Cotswolds. We pride ourselves on serving quality food alongside a carefully chosen range of cask ales, craft beers, wines and premium spirits, all delivered with warm, knowledgeable hospitality.

Our food is honest, seasonal and proudly British. Think game, offal, proper stocks and sauces, local produce and straightforward cooking done really well. No micro herbs, no tweezers and definitely no unnecessary fuss.

Working alongside our General Manager, Natalie, you'll have the opportunity to make the role your own, lead a fantastic team and play a key part in the continued success of one of the Cotswolds' favourite village pubs.

Why join us?

We believe the best pubs are built by people who genuinely enjoy coming to work.

That's why we've built a business where people stay. We invest in our teams, promote from within, actively manage rotas to avoid burnout and give our managers the support they need to succeed.

Many of our General Managers, Head Chefs and senior leaders have progressed through the business, and we're committed to helping ambitious people build long, rewarding careers in hospitality.

Our owners remain actively involved across all of our pubs, working closely with every site to provide support while giving our managers the freedom to lead their teams.

What you'll receive

  • Competitive hourly rate
  • Consecutive days off guaranteed
  • Rotas actively managed to avoid burnout
  • Christmas Day off guaranteed
  • Company pension
  • Staff meals whilst on duty
  • 25% discount on food and drink across all our pubs
  • Refer-a-friend bonus scheme
  • Twice-yearly company staff parties
  • Structured training and development
  • Regular visits to local suppliers across the Cotswolds
  • Genuine opportunities to progress across our growing pub group

The Role

As Bar Manager, you'll be responsible for leading the bar operation and supporting the wider management team in delivering exceptional hospitality every day.

This is a hands-on role where you'll lead from the front, create a brilliant atmosphere, develop your team and ensure guests receive consistently warm and knowledgeable service.

You'll be trusted to take ownership of the bar while working closely with Natalie and Charlie to continually improve standards and develop the business.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading the bar team during busy services
  • Delivering exceptional customer service and creating a welcoming atmosphere
  • Managing stock, ordering and minimising wastage
  • Maintaining excellent cellar management and consistently high-quality beer
  • Developing strong product knowledge across beer, wine and spirits
  • Training, coaching and developing the front-of-house team
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, presentation and service
  • Monitoring operational standards and implementing improvements
  • Managing invoices and supplier relationships
  • Opening and closing the business independently
  • Supporting the management team with the day-to-day running of the pub

Who we're looking for

You'll ideally have experience as a:

  • Bar Manager
  • Assistant Manager
  • Duty Manager
  • Restaurant Manager
  • Senior Supervisor ready for the next step

Most importantly, you'll be someone who:

  • Loves hospitality and looking after people
  • Leads by example with energy and enthusiasm
  • Has excellent knowledge of beer, wine and spirits
  • Takes pride in delivering consistently high standards
  • Enjoys coaching and developing others
  • Is organised, dependable and calm under pressure
  • Wants to build a long-term career with a successful independent pub group

About Us

The Fox Inn is part of a small collection of highly regarded pubs owned by Pete and Tom.

Alongside The Fox, we also own The Bell Inn, Langford, The Lamb Inn, Shipton-under-Wychwood, The Sherborne Arms, Northleach, The Tivoli, Cheltenham and The Hawthorn, Shepherd's Bush.

Across the group we've built a reputation for exceptional food, outstanding drinks and genuine hospitality. Our pubs have received national recognition, including GQ Pub of the Year, The Times Pub of the Year, and a Michelin Bib Gourmand at The Bell, which we proudly retained for five consecutive years.

While we're proud of the awards, we're even prouder of the people behind them. Many of our team have been with us for years because we've created supportive workplaces where people are trusted, respected and given genuine opportunities to develop.

If you're looking for more than just your next job, if you're looking for a business where you can build a rewarding career with great people, we'd love to hear from you.
