Science Teacher with Department Responsibility East School E1
East (E1) London |Part Time Tuesday & Thursday (Full Time Potential) | From £30,900 FTE per annum and £12,300 for 2 days.
The Complete Works (TCW) Independent School is seeking a passionate, adaptable and skilled Science Teacher to take on a leadership responsibility within our dynamic and creative learning environment in East London. This is a part-time role combining specialist teaching with departmental oversight, ideal for someone who thrives in a non-traditional, student-centred setting. This role can be full-time if supplemented with teaching offsite for the remainder of the week.
TCW is an alternative independent school providing bespoke education for students across Key Stages 1–5 who are unable to attend mainstream settings. Many of our students have SEND or have experienced school exclusion. We work across London, providing 1:1 and small group teaching in homes, centres, and libraries – always striving to reignite a love of learning in our students.
The Role: We are looking for a Science Teacher to teach small groups and individual students at our Learning Hubs in East London for 2 days per week. Our students are typically not suited to mainstream education due to SEN, medical needs, or SEMH.
What We Offer:
- Competitive pay rates with regular progression
- A culture of promotion from within (our senior leadership team all started in entry level positions)
- Ongoing professional development, tailored to your ambitions and interests
- Regular socials and staff clubs, a supportive and friendly culture
- Competitive Pension scheme
- Mental Health and Wellbeing Facilities and Support from our in house Wellbeing Team
- Access to hundreds of company discounts, including gym membership, cinema tickets and fashion.
- Excellent work life balance - school holidays.
- The chance to positively influence the lives of vulnerable children
- Flexibility to develop your role based on your strengths and interests.
Who We're Looking For:
Essential:
- An honours degree or equivalent professional qualification.
- Experience delivering high-quality Science lessons, ideally across KS3–KS4.
- Knowledge of current Science curriculum, SEN practices, and alternative pedagogies.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- Confidence working independently and as part of a team.
- A creative, flexible, and proactive approach.
Desirable:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Degree or A-level in Science.
- Experience teaching students with behavioural and/or SEN needs.
- Background in a creative, therapeutic, or alternative education setting.
- Ability to teach English, Maths and Science to a foundation GCSE level.
Training:
- Induction Day: One full day (9:00 am – 3:45 pm).
- Induction Training Sessions: Five Tuesday afternoons (4:30 – 6:00 pm).
- Ongoing Professional Development: Weekly sessions on Thursday afternoons (4:30 – 6:00 pm).
