Full job description

Finance & AI Product Lead

Company: SC Technology Limited

Location: London / Hybrid

Contract: Fixed-term contract Fixed-term contract or contractor — we'll shape this around what suits you

Salary: Flexible, reflecting the level at which you join

The role:

We want a finance person who likes technology and wants to build things. This is not a normal finance job: you would spend all of your time designing and building our own accounting platform, our replacement for Sage, shaped around how our businesses actually work.

We build with AI tools such as Claude Code, so you do not need a software development background. You need to know finance properly, enjoy tinkering with new tools, and want to build the software yourself.

There is no preset seniority level for this role. We are as interested in learning velocity and potential as we are in years of experience. You might be relatively early in your finance career but already building with AI, or highly experienced with strong ideas about how accounting software should work. We will shape the responsibilities and salary around the capability of the person we hire.

What you’ll do:

You would help design and build the platform across:

· General ledger and double-entry bookkeeping

· Accounts payable and receivable

· Bank reconciliation

· Invoicing and supplier payments

· VAT and financial reporting

· Journals, accruals and prepayments

· Management accounts

· Multi-company accounting

· Audit trails and approval workflows

· Dashboards, automation and integrations

Day to day, that means:

· Turning accounting requirements into working features

· Prototyping and developing with Claude Code and other AI tools

· Designing the accounting logic, workflows and controls

· Testing the numbers against real scenarios

· Automating processes that finance teams still do by hand

· Trying out AI agents inside accounting workflows

· Helping decide what the product does next, and improving what is already there

Who we’re looking for

You should have solid practical accounting knowledge: double-entry, ledgers, reconciliations, VAT, month-end and financial reporting. ACA, ACCA, CIMA or AAT, part-qualified or qualified by experience are all fine.

Beyond that, we want someone who is enthusiastic about AI and already uses, or wants to use, Claude, ChatGPT and Claude Code. Someone who likes automating repetitive work, is happy to get their hands dirty building, has ideas about how accounting software could be better, and picks up technical concepts quickly.

Experience with APIs, SQL, Python, JavaScript, GitHub, Open Banking, accounting integrations or SaaS development would help, but none of it is essential.

The opportunity
AI is changing who can build software. We think someone who knows accounting well and has the right mindset can use these tools to build financial software themselves. You would take a product from a blank page to a working accounting platform used by real businesses.
We would especially like to hear from finance people who are already experimenting with AI, building side projects, automating their own processes, or looking at their accounting software and thinking:
“I could build a better version of this.”

Pay: Up to £800.00 per day

Benefits:

  • Casual dress
  • Flexitime
  • Work from home

Application question(s):

  • Are you able to tell us about something you have built or automated using AI? Personal projects count.
  • Do you have solid practical accounting knowledge: double-entry, ledgers, reconciliations, VAT, month-end and financial reporting. ACA, ACCA, CIMA or AAT? (part-qualified or qualified by experience are all fine)

Work authorisation:

  • United Kingdom (required)

Location:

  • London, Greater London (required)

Work Location: Hybrid remote in London
