Job Summary
We are seeking an outstanding classroom teacher to delivery inspiring lessons and engage students of all levels and ability. The post would suit an ECT or a more experienced colleague. Experience of teaching at KS5 is desirable.

Highcliffe is a very successful Academy with exceptional outcomes at GCSE and A Level from one of the area’s most successful science department.

Duties

  • Deliver comprehensive science lessons across the curriculum, incorporating practical laboratory activities and scientific research projects.
  • Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies to cater to diverse learning styles, including tutoring and behaviour management techniques.
  • Mentor students, providing academic support and encouragement to nurture their interest in science subjects such as biochemistry and mathematics.
  • Prepare lesson plans, assessments, and educational materials with attention to detail, including proofreading of resources to ensure accuracy.
  • Supervise laboratory experiments ensuring safety protocols are followed and equipment is maintained properly.
  • Assess student progress regularly through tests, assignments, and observations; provide constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and contribute to curriculum development initiatives.
  • Support students with special educational needs by adapting lessons and employing inclusive teaching methods.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in teaching science at secondary or higher education levels, with a strong background in biochemistry or related fields.
  • Laboratory experience demonstrating familiarity with scientific equipment and experimental procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging students of varying abilities and backgrounds.
  • Strong mentoring abilities with a focus on fostering curiosity and critical thinking among students.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies to maintain a positive classroom environment.
  • Skills in proofreading educational materials to ensure clarity and correctness.
  • Experience in tutoring students individually or in small groups to enhance understanding of complex concepts such as mathematical applications in science.
  • Familiarity with special education requirements and inclusive teaching practices is desirable.

Pay: £32,916.00-£51,048.00 per year
