Laboratory Scientist - (In-Vitro – Preclinical) £c40k prorate (CONTRACT)

Hampshire, TEMP ABJ6719

TEMP - ONSITE - 22.77/hr PAYE 35hr wk

Duration: 5 months (end Nov 2026)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Laboratory Scientist with a background in biological sciences, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, toxicology, invitro etc to join a leading scientific research team focused on invitro pre-clinical product assessment.

As a laboratory scientist you will support the delivery of in-vitro and pre-clinical studies, contributing to the generation of scientific data used to assess product safety, support regulatory requirements, and provide scientific substantiation for product claims. The role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge biological and toxicological methodologies within a multidisciplinary research environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the execution of pre-clinical and in-vitro studies, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality scientific data.
  • Maintain laboratory operations, equipment, consumables, and associated documentation to ensure efficient day-to-day running of the laboratory.
  • Apply knowledge of cell biology, toxicology, pharmacology, and disease-relevant biological systems to support research programmes.
  • Conduct and support high-content screening experiments and contribute to data analysis and interpretation.
  • Assist in the development and optimisation of innovative in vitro methodologies and assessment strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory quality standards, health and safety requirements, and good laboratory practices.
  • Collaborate with internal scientific teams and external research partners to support project delivery.
  • Monitor scientific developments and emerging technologies relevant to pre-clinical assessment.
  • Contribute to scientific reports, regulatory submissions, presentations, publications, and technical communications.
  • Support the evaluation and interpretation of complex biological datasets to inform scientific decision-making.

Experience & Skills Required

  • Degree MSc or PhD in Biological Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Toxicology, Pharmacology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline.
  • Hands-on experience conducting in vitro biological or toxicology studies

· Previous laboratory experience is essential, ideally gained within a biological sciences, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, CRO, or related research environment.

  • Hands-on experience conducting in vitro studies and laboratory-based biological assays.
  • Understanding of cell biology, toxicology, pharmacology, or related scientific disciplines.
  • Experience generating, analysing, and interpreting scientific data.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present scientific findings clearly.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Desirable

v Experience in molecular toxicology, disease modelling, or adverse outcome pathway Experience developing or optimising cellular assays.

v Knowledge of bioinformatics, computational biology, or biological data analysis tools.

v Exposure to high-content screening platforms or high-throughput assays.
